AC Milan freeze all contract renewal talks after Ultras and Donnarumma clash
Gazzetta dello Sport report that some AC Milan ultras faced Gianluigi Donnarumma at Milanello on Saturday who demanded he not play against Juventus unless he signs the contract renewal with Milan given the growing rumors around a move to Turin. The player was reportedly left in tears after the meeting as he reiterated that he would make the final decision on his future.
Paolo Maldini spoke with ANSA via MilanNews.it say,
“It is important to reiterate firmly that no one outside of Milan can decide who plays and who renews. Certain choices belong to the coach for the field and to the club for contractual matters. Each renewal negotiation is now frozen until the end of the season, to allow the team to focus solely on the league. Until then, we will continue to protect our players as we always have. “
“The Milan fans, so far exemplary in supporting the team, must understand that at the moment, the players need serenity and concentration to face the next matches which will be decisive. What happened on Saturday morning with Donnarumma does not help. I reiterate the absolute professionalism of all our players, even those who are about to expire, who have never lacked dedication to the cause and commitment.
As a result, all contract renewal negotiations are frozen for Milan until the end of the season with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu yet to make their deals.
