Chelsea transfer news: Roman Abramovich ‘pulls out all the stops’ to secure Romelu Lukaku | Football | sport
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is ready to do anything to eliminate Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan this summer. The Belgium international has become the club’s first target with Erling Haaland seeking a bridge too far for the Blues.
Inter Milan striker Lukaku has become the main transfer target at Chelsea, with Abramovich ready to do anything to secure his services.
Les Bleus desperately need a striker to lead Thomas Tuchel’s side, who have created more chances than anyone in the Premier League since taking over as manager in January.
However, Timo Werner was too wasteful while Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud did not suit his tactics.
With a number of player sales expected at Stamford Bridge this summer, Chelsea are hoping to raise enough money for a big signing.
A striker tops the wishlist with the club chasing a prominent name in the game – with Borussia Dortmund star Haaland in the conversation.
But with most of Europe chasing the Norway international, plans were in place to seek another target.
And according to Mundo Deportivo, via Sport Witness, that man is Lukaku – who signed for the Blues in 2011.
However, at Inter Milan the 27-year-old became one of the best strikers in the world under Antonio Conte, which led them to their first Serie A title in 10 years.
In 41 appearances, Lukaku has scored 27 times and even caught the attention of Manchester City as a potential replacement for Sergio Aguero.
But Mundo Deportivo reports that Abramovich is ready to do anything to sign the Belgian, who is also his country’s top scorer with 59.
A number of forwards have been linked to the Blues, including Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Robert Lewandowski.
And getting Lukaku away from Inter could prove difficult, with the club having no intention of letting him go.
The forward spoke about his future recently, insisting he had no plans to leave.
He said: “I am really proud to be an Inter player.
“I have a special feeling with this club, which is why I decided to celebrate in the city today with our fans.”
