Cops: a man assaults a victim | Venice Gondolier Sun
VENICE – A man in Venice blackmailed a child to sleep with him, then assaulted the victim while the victim was sleeping, authorities said.
Joseph Babatope Justus, 24, 1300 block of Roosevelt Drive, Venice was arrested on Wednesday. He is accused of obscene or lascivious molestation on a child between 12 and 16 years old.
Justus was blackmailing the victim, who was caught sneaking in, according to an affidavit of probable cause. He told the victim to wear a thong and a shirt and sleep in a bed with him, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The victim said he put his hands under their clothes. The victim woke up with fluid on her body and clothes, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Justus reportedly responded to a text.
“He felt bad about what happened last night, it was wrong,” said the probable cause affivadit. He says he said in the text that he “didn’t think”.
“He said it would never happen again,” according to a probable cause affidavit.
Authorities say Justus has previously been arrested in Palm Beach where a victim allegedly committed a sex crime, again while the victim was asleep.
Justus is being held on $ 250,000 bail. The date of his arraignment is June 4.
