Holyoke High School Student Wins Car of the Year for Excellence Gary Rome Hyundai | New
HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB / WSHM) – For the seventh year in a row, Gary Rome Hyundai is teaming up with Holyoke High School to give a lucky senior the chance to win a brand new car.
Out of over 100 eligible students, one is the proud owner of a new car after passing and passing this school year.
“I feel awesome, excited, very unstable, emotional,” said Amelya Santana, senior at Holyoke High School 2021.
Gary Rome Hyundai hosted its annual Car Competition for the Year of Excellence on Sunday.
The car dealership is teaming up with Holyoke High School to give a lucky senior the chance to win a new car.
“Thank you for this opportunity of course. It’s very exciting for me, ”said Santana.
In order to qualify, students must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher and not have more than six unjustified absences.
This year’s winner, Santana, was one of 154 qualified students.
“I didn’t expect to end up like this. This year has been very difficult to accomplish, but I have done it where I am proud of myself and proud of everyone who has helped me, ”said Santana.
Rome said this is the seventh year of partnering with the school, and he is happy to continue the tradition.
“I’m so thankful that we can give back to our community and make someone smile and give one of our students something to cheer on,” Rome said.
The principal of Santana said it has been a difficult year and that she was delighted to share this moment with her students.
“We’re really proud of what he was able to give our students, and it just gave them something to work for this whole year. So we really appreciate everything, ”said Holyoke High School North Campus Principal Lori McKenna.
