Journalist explains why Milan’s biggest problem is in midfield
Milan had a tough 2021 and after two straight losses rebounded with a win last night over Benevento. And as Atalanta and Napoli drew, they still have a good chance of finishing in the top four.
There is still a lot of work to be done for the Rossoneri as they face Juventus next week. Last night’s victory will surely act as a boost of confidence, but the performances were not perfect and there is still room for improvement.
If they had faced a better team last night, it is not certain whether they would have done with all three points. Speaking on MilanTV (via Milan News), journalist Luca Serafini spoke about Milan’s main problem at the moment and explained his thinking.
“We lost too many 1v1s, I keep saying that the problem is in the middle of the field. Individually, I liked both Tomori and Romagnoli. Calhanoglu had some glimpses. In the midfield we now have physical issues with Kessie and Bennacer, but I liked the way Tonali came into the game, ”he said.
It remains to be seen whether Stefano Pioli will give Franck Kessie and Ismael Bennacer the chance to leave on Sunday, especially since the latter did not impress. Maybe Sandro Tonali could get the nod.
