Juventus to renew Morata loan from Atletico Madrid
The 28-year-old forward will spend another Serie A season, with the Turin side due to pay € 10m for the privilege
Juventus have opted to extend the loan deal of Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata for a second season, Goal can confirm.
Morata arrived for a second stint at the Turin giants last summer on a temporary basis, with Juventus having the option to extend the deal for a year, buy the Spain international or terminate the deal this summer. .
And Juve have chosen to keep their hands on the 28-year-old striker, the deal is expected to cost them an additional € 10million (£ 8.5million / $ 12million).
Why are Juventus keeping Morata?
Morata was impressive in front of goal with Juventus last season, scoring 20 goals in 44 outings.
In addition, the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri was important in this agreement. Allegri has worked with Morata before and has had very good results with the former Real Madrid and Chelsea hitman, while the player also has a strong desire to stay with the Turinese.
Nonetheless, Juventus, whose financial difficulties are well known, have tried to get a cut on the striker’s loan fees, but Atletico Madrid have rejected the attempt.
Due to these parameters, Allegri is returning to the squad at a difficult time, although qualifying for next season’s Champions League, which was achieved on the last day of the season, should mean more financial flexibility.
Either way, Morata gives Juve a sense of continuity in their squad, despite the new cycle they are working towards.
