Le Phair launches art exhibition season in Turin – culture
TURIN – The international photography exhibition known as Phair will reopen the contemporary art exhibition season at the Nervi Pavilion in the Torino Esposizioni exhibition hall from June 18 to 20.
The exhibition will include works by renowned contemporary artists such as Luigi Ghirri, Letizia Battaglia, Paolo Pellegrin, Marinella Senatore and Marcel Duchamp.
The exhibition will be staged under the daring vaults of the spectacular Pavilion 3, designed by Pier Luigi Nervi, in Torino Esposizioni, which has previously been the site of world-class events such as the Turin International Auto Show and the Games 2006 Winter Olympics.
A space of 4000 square meters will host 40 important Italian contemporary art galleries working in Italy and abroad.
Works by artists such as Walter Niedermayr, Alberto Garutti, Cesare Leonardi, Nils-Udo and Daniele de Lonti will be on display.
Roberto Casiraghi, co-founder of the exhibition with Paola Rampini, said Le Phair is “a point of restart for a sector that has suffered a lot”.
“The fair, dedicated not only to photographers but also and above all to artists who express themselves using the media of photography, will present the planning and strength of Italian galleries to a national and international audience,” said Casiraghi.
The co-founders, with the support of the Turin Chamber of Commerce, have also created Torino Photo Days – an experience of total immersion in photography in the city – which takes place at the same time as The Phair.
From June 18 to 20, all image-related initiatives will be accessible online, as well as in person with a shuttle service.
People also involved, in addition to the Phair, include: Castello di Rivoli Museum, GAM Modern Art Gallery, Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, Chamber of Commerce, Merz Foundation, OGR, Paratissima, La Venaria Reale, TAG Turin Art Galleries, and the Videoinsight Foundation.
