the The sailors of Milan presented a physical football demonstration on Saturday night beating the previously undefeated Ancona dolphins 31-0 in a steady downpour in Milan, Italy.
Ancona has been one of only two undefeated teams in Italy Division 1 making victory even sweeter for one Milan the team focused on demonstrating their dominance.
The weather was to play a vital role in the fight with heavy rain just before and during the match, effectively turning any passing play over 10 yards into interception or incomplete.
the Seamen the defense came out inflated and forced consecutive kicks resulting in two scores after a dominant ground game of Milan half-offensive Gianpietro Ruffato (# 22) and William petrone (# 24). the Ancona side, unable to get much in the air, they did so at the start of the half on the fourth down showing their intention, which often backfired Seamen favorable ground position.
The turnovers forced by both defenses meant a quick change of possession but that was only the Seamen who were able to capitalize through superior ground and screen play, meaning that Ancona came in at halftime 17-0.
It is in the second half that Luke Zahradka (# 7) was able to get some sort of passing game with both strikes Ismail Lanamra (# 11) and Jordan Bouha (# 1) for sending the score Seamen up 31 – 0 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter saw just three and-outs from both sides as the ball got heavier and more difficult to handle with the only noticeable change in slog coming from the backup quarter. Joshua Croppenstedt (# 4).
Ancona no doubt walked away from it disappointed to feel that the forces of nature only hampered their style of play, disrupting their undefeated record. But the dolphins will have another chance to show the league what they’re made of in their next game against the league’s last and only undefeated team, the Panthers of Parma May 8.
For the Sailors, it was just another step towards what they consider to be a championship year and a rematch against the top seed Panthers of Parma.
