Official: Verónica Boquete has renewed her contract with AC Milan Women
Whatever you do when you do what you do is the feeling that I want to stay – SWV
It’s official! AC Milan have announced that Verónica Boquete has signed a renewal with the team.
From the team itself:
AC Milan have announced the extension of the deal for women’s first team player Verónica Boquete. The Spanish midfielder will continue to wear the red and black jersey next season.
Boquete, who joined the team last November, has made 18 appearances for Rossonere between Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa, scoring two decisive goals in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final.
Remember when we were the first site to write about Vero’s arrival in Milan in English? Well, there was a reason we were so excited about the potential move. There you go, it turned out to be everything we hoped for.
Although there were a few hiccups along the way (for example, the unfortunate 4-0 loss to Juve and Vero being constantly played out of position), Verónica’s presence has no doubts, has improved the team and made them into legitimate contenders.
The fact that Milan qualified for the Champions League for the first time and will play in the Coppa Italia final would attest to this.
So far this season, Verónica has scored two goals and provided three assists for Milan. The Rossonere appear to be taking their women’s project seriously as her signing indicates Milan have big ambitions for the team. And if the rumors are true, Boquete could be the first in a series of high profile moves for the team (and we’ll discuss that later).
Milan are fortunate to have a player of Boquete’s caliber on their squad. Verónica is one of the greatest players of all time as she is the first Spaniard to win the Women’s Champions League with FFC Frankfurt and she also captained Spain at their very first Women’s World Cup. in 2015. Vero paved the way for other women. in football, including players of FC Barcelona, which became the first Spanish team to win UWCL last week.
Vero’s signing is special for Milan in other ways as well. The Milanisti are so used to their favorite players sold to balance the books and we’re not used to recruiting big guys to fill the void.
The signing of Verónica reversed this trend. It was the first time in a long time that we could celebrate the signing of such a special player. It was also a sign that hope was on the horizon and better days were coming.
We can only hope that we are at the start of a great chapter for Milan and that Vero will be there to help us write it.
And remember when I sang Faith Evans after she officially signed up for us?
Well, after all these months, those feelings remain and are the same. We’ll end the piece by letting Ms. Evans sing as we feel.
♫ Oh, I
I can’t believe it’s real
I can’t believe it’s true
I can’t believe you chose me
When i chose you
And I can’t believe that you are here with me
And I’m here with you ♫
We are so happy that you are staying with us for a bit longer, Verónica.
